How we are progressing with our trailer

Trailer

This is the rough line of how we are going to create our film trailer, the many of the clips have been edited down in size but we need to cut down the story telling scene and maybe use some of it for a voice over, also we have some more clips to add into the trailer that have not been put in, this includes:

·         Different angles of running scenes

·         The second sacrifice scene

·         Roxie hiding and then getting dragged away
·         Lizzie finding Claire with blood on her hands – shows demon possession

This will help to split up the trailer and make it more visually appeasing and like an actual trailer.

Why are Trailers important to the Film Industry

Considering that the movie trailers show the first glimpse of what the film will be like; it’s an important thing to get right. As you have many websites: such as YouTube, that can show the clips worldwide, and so they can bring in a massive audience. You do have to also remember that the film company has to usually pay for advertisement; but if they have the trailer on YouTube then the advertisement is free, and will cover more areas.

The trailers can be shown to promote the film worldwide through media: such as the News. This then is also free advertisement, and along with interviews from the actors will entice more people to view your product at the cinema/ buy the DVD.

Sometimes, special scenes are shot only to be used in the trailer: that are used to promote the film, but the scenes are not actually part of the finished film. The companies have to always be on the lookout for the next big thing: this is important in advertising as then you can connect better with your fan base. Though its not quite taken off, considering the increasing popularity of Smart Phones and IPhones: with apps like the QR-Code reader, this allows you to view a trailer on your mobile phone, this could be the next best thing. As this would allow you to look at the film poster; then after scanning in the barcode, you would be able to watch the trailer, this would maybe intrigue the audience more (about the film) as then they do not have to wait until they get home (and possibly forget the film title).

Changes to the Plot

The plot of our story had slowly been altered; throughout the time which we have been filming, these are the alterations and the new scenes which we are going to film:

·         Drawing the pentagram onto the tree ( this will show the start of the  demon possession)

·         Shaking the trees – this will show the demonic power surrounding the location, and with the creature’s power rising

·         Sammy (aka Roxie) runs and hides under some plant life – trying to get away from the creature.

o   Then gets dragged away from hiding spot

·         Second sacrifice (Roxie) is seen lying on a pentagram and is still alive …. You then see something in the background which is the creature/ demon

·         Have more different angles of running

·         Story telling scene + dare to put the blood on the tree trunk (also a couple of reaction shots during the story of Roxie and Lizzie)

·         Re-shoot the sacrifice clip ( this is a new scene with a pictogram at the base of the tree)

·         Re-shoot entering the forest (diff angle to intersect an original shot)

·         shots of different characters with blood on them – they could be seen running

·         Lizzie finds Claire with blood on her hands tries to comfort her; looks at the camera and the audience sees Claire smiles creepily – this could show the demonic possession

·         Home scene- this could be used to show that they thought that they were safe, have one of the characters answer a parent when they say something like “Be safe” and the character responds to “what could happen … there’s nothing in the woods” or something similar.

Case Study - Quentin Tarantino

When deciding about our trailer; you could suggests that our plot line is slightly controversial ( with the thought of Religion) about the satanic rituals.
In a case study done for my Regulation of the Media lessons; I created a case study on the work of Quentin Tarantino; many of his work is controversial, but his are more about racism and violence, were ours is more religion based.

Scripted Story Idea - Start of the Demonic Scene

This is written evidence of the only speaking part of the trailer; this tells the audience the background information about the woods and about what happened, this then gives information to the audience about what has happened and this gives them a reason to give an explanation as to why this is happening, in a modern day scenario:
