Trial Trailer

The Sandman

The task with this was to create a 30 second long trailer; this would help us to focus on our editting skills, and focus on the ideas behind creating a trailer.
Here what becomes apparent is that we needed to work on our placement of the clips; as it seems to linnear, that it follows the storyline too closely, here we need to be able to change the layout of the clips to make it more interesting, and to not give away the storyline just in the trailer.
What I think is good about the trailer is that we used clips that would build up the tension at the end of the trailer, such as: the hallway elongating. After this you have a transition after he jumps into bed, which then the camera focus’ on the moon which morphs into the Sandman, which links to his appearance in the house. My favourite bit is shown after the title: the camera focus’ on the child’s bed as the door opens; we see the light from the hallway enter into the child’s bedroom and it creates a scenerio that leaves the audience wondering … what will happen to the child. With this it does not give way the end of the story; but leaves it on a cliffhanger, which this would make the audience wonder about, what will happen next …
